The Food Scene at the Rendezvous

Though there is no power at the Rendezvous site for either cooking or refrigeration (we have BIG coolers), nevertheless we are able to provide a fair assortment of food for those who wish to partake. We have water, lemonade, and iced tea throughout the weekend. On Saturday AM we have coffee, tea, and an assortment of “continental breakfast” items – bagels, pastries, fruit, yogurt, granola bars, etc. There are sandwich makin’s, chips, fruit, cookies and the like at lunch-time. There is a catered hot meal for Saturday evening, generally fried chicken and a variety of “summer picnic” type fare. Sunday AM is a repeat of the continental breakfast, and whatever left-overs there may be. You are welcome to partake of any or all, or of course bring your own eats, whatever works for you.

On the Friday evening we have a Vegetarian Pot-luck Dinner, which has become something of a tradition. Bring along a vegetarian dish of whatever sort strikes your fancy. We always have way more food than we really need, so please do feel free to come on over and chow down, whether you have a dish to share or not. You are very Welcome, and Nobody’s checking…

So What Does All This Cost You?

From the very beginning we wanted The Rendezvous to be not only Relaxed, Informal, and Unstructured, but also that it be a Free event, open to all. And Free it is. There are no fees to attend the Rendezvous. We don’t sell tickets. We charge no vendor fees to the manufacturers, our friends, who bring their boats for all of us to play with. We have no Sponsors fronting any money. We don’t sell the food on site – it’s just there, for any who wish to partake. The Rendezvous is funded entirely by the donations of those who attend, and who toss what $ they may into one or another of the donation cans scattered around. We ask only that folks pony up for the necessary insurance coverage ($4/person).

Cooper’s Lake charges a fee for camping ($32/night/person for 2024) and a $10/person charge for “Day-trippers”. That’s how they make their money, and why they charge the Rendezvous absolutely nothing – not a single dollar – to conduct our event on their grounds. And it’s also why we can make the event itself Free to everybody. It is a Unique situation for a Unique Event.
